So everyone knows, there has been problems between AOL andProboards users. They don't seem to get along, so here are a few quotes from Proboards users:
I searched the bugs post and didn't see anything for the AOL e-mail conflict. Is there still a problem with it? If so, I'd like a simple step by step instruction on how to get other AOL users to use their AOL accounts. I know something about the "Nobody", but just can't remember details. If there's a post about it, or some sort of instructions for AOL users (some may get turned off by going out and getting another e-mail to register for Proboards). If there's no post about it, can someone give me the step-by-step for AOL users to follow? I'm going to repost it in an informational post on my forums (you can check to see what I've done at myspacefriends.proboards104.com/)
The problem with AOL is not a bug. AOL has a too strict security policy so that proboards e-mails won't get through.
What you'll need to do is simple. Add "nobody@proboards.com" to your safe e-mail list and contact list and it should go through.
The tech guys i spoke to said theres no reason for them to block us anymore, but they are... A week ago they said they would refer the problem to their senior tech dept.
They have until monday before i call back and chase them up
As mentioned it is their security policy, so long as you have nobody@proboards.com added to the allow list it should be OK. Other than that try registering a hotmail account.
This will probably be the only server where things correctly operate, since this is the only server they have a working setup for
Is there still a problem between AOL user's e-mails and Proboards still? If there's a solution to this, I'd like to know.
3 of my forums can be found in signature, one with the recent AOL user is divideandconquer.proboards70.com/. I want to make sure everything is ok due to the fact that I have a forums set for my new business and want to make sure that future customers have a forums to register without the feel that their e-mails will not get the activation code then have to actually wait just to find out they need to get another e-mail.
AOL is known to block emails like that, tell your member to check in their junk folder.. if its not there.. then may i suggest you tell this member to try signing up with a free email such as yahoo.. just for your board, and try sending the code again..
They should have no problems, alot of members i know have had so many problems with AOL.. thats what happen to my members.. once they signed up with yahoo, they got everything fine.. Give it a try.
Kapt~`'-
Anyway, if you do manage to get one through, just click 'this is not spam' and you should have no problem after that

Very breifly this was fixed, but AOL had another problem which pretty much put things back to how they were (except support, which for some reason stayed working)The tech guys i spoke to said theres no reason for them to block us anymore, but they are... I always had a problem with recieving signup emails through AOL. Some forums would allow me to use AOL email, others wouldnt.. I always found that rather strangeAs mentioned it is their security policy, so long as you have nobody@proboards.com added to the allow list it should be OK. Other than that try registering a hotmail account.

That will not work, AOL block the mails at the 1st instance, before taking those lists into account. AOL are aware of the problem, i am just waiting for them to correct it.This will probably be the only server where things correctly operate, since this is the only server they have a working setup for

I took a look through the forums here to see if there was any word about AOL users and Proboards. I have a new forums and an AOL user signed up but never got the notice e-mail for the registration or an activation code. i had to communicate to him because I didn't see him on at all since he registered. I got a reply e-mail stating he was waiting for the e-mail and had checked his spam filter and has not seen anything. I had the person get a new and free e-mail and I changed it for him but don't know if he's interested in coming back due to the e-mail problems. Is there still a problem between AOL user's e-mails and Proboards still? If there's a solution to this, I'd like to know.

It's not just ProBoards. AOL doesn't get along with a lot of sites out there. Remember, AOL isn't an email provider. It's an expensive virus ;DKapt~`'-

I just clicked on the 'this is not spam' button and I have had no problem since.....I now get all my email from proboards..........I just know I am going to have problems now that I have said that Anyway, if you do manage to get one through, just click 'this is not spam' and you should have no problem after that
